A painting by emerging artist Nick Hoops, a Townsville soldier in his 17th year of service with the Australian Army, has been selected in the Queensland Regional Arts Awards (QRAA) People’s Choice Category.

The (QRAA) is an annual visual arts prize and exhibition for established and emerging artists living in regional and remote Queensland. The theme for the 2018 awards is “Wanderlust’ and selected finalists will be featured in a regional Queensland touring exhibition from November 2018 through to January 2020.

Nick’s painting, “Opal Hole”, is inspired by the western Queensland Boulder Opal, the colour of the Outback. A self-confessed amateur opal enthusiast, the painting depicts the colour patterns of the Boulder Opal.
